Digital Sports Photography - Use Breaks in the Action Wisely

When taking digital photos at a sporting event, use timeouts, intermissions, period changes, and the like wisely. During this off time, unless you want to take photos of the entertainment activities such as mascot slam-dunks, dance routines, etc., go ahead and rotate your batteries and digital memory.

Even if your battery still has half its power, you wouldn't want to risk it going completely out of power during a crucial photo opportunity, would you? This could result in you fumbling through your bag during a crucial moment of the game, trying desperately to grab and insert a new battery before a photo opportunity passes.

The same goes for digital camera media. If you bring along extra cards, don't worry about filling every card. If you only have 20 photos or so left on a card, go ahead and switch to an empty card so you don't have to worry about running out of free space.
