Digital Sunrise and Sunset Photography - Don't Limit Yourself with the Thirds Rule

SUMMARY: Sunrise and sunset photos should accentuate the colors of the sky.

Don't hamstring yourself with taking photos that must rely on the 'rule of thirds'. When it comes to sunrise and sunset photography, you want the sky to dominate the scene, so consider lowering the horizon line a little more to showcase the changing colors of the sky in your photo. Of course, depending on whether or not you are able to add a silhouetted subject to your photo, you should further experiment with raising or lowering the horizon to compensate for larger or smaller subjects.
