Digital Travel Photography - Trip Preparation

Research Before Going on a Trip

SUMMARY: Don't return from your vacation wishing you had known about a great photo opportunity.

Before you go on a trip and take your digital camera with you to take momentous photos of your journey, you should always thoroughly research your destination first. If you are a AAA member, get a few TripBook for ideas on where to visit. Check the web. Read books and magazines about your destination. If you have the time, write down places you want to visit in a logbook or notebook and prioritize them in case you aren't able to get everywhere. There's nothing worse than coming back from a trip only to find out about incredible photo opportunities that you missed because you didn't take the time to research the area.
