Digital Travel Photography

Consider 'Photo Bingo' with the Kids

SUMMARY: Pass the time on long road trips by playing 'photo bingo'.

To get your kids interested in digital photography and give them something to do during a long road trip, consider creating a game of travel digital photo bingo. Instead of the typical auto bingo where kids name what they see on the highway, in this version they must take photos to prove what they saw. If you do this, just make sure the photo taking does not interfere with your driving, i.e. your children can't take photos over your shoulder, just through the passenger windows.

This is best with small portable digital cameras, and make sure you take along plenty of extra batteries.

Using a graphics editing program or word processor, you should be able to make some bingo cards. Here are a few subject ideas to get you going:

* Cow
* Horse
* Mail truck
* Lake, river, or stream
* Ice cream truck (yum!)
* Horse trailer
* Airport sign
* Convertible automobile
* Police car (hope it's not coming after you <grin>)
* Speed Limit 70 sign (or one for 65, or 60, or 55, or 45)
