Remember Plaques

SUMMARY: Take digital photos of plaques that tell the story behind a statue or monument.

When confronted with a statue, monument, or memorial, most people take two standard photographs:

1. A wide-angle shot of the entire structure.
2. A photo of himself or herself or a friend standing next to the structure.

However, many people don't even think about looking carefully for plaques. Most statues, monuments, or memorials have a dedication plaque, and a photo of this can help annotate the photo so you later remember where you took the picture. Plus, plaques may specify when and why a particular structure was commissioned, who paid for the construction, and perhaps some interesting trivia about the subject.
