SUMMARY: Two tips you should heed when mountain climbing and snapping digital photos.

1) Pack light. As you increase elevation, the air becomes thinner, making it harder for you to breathe. The fully stocked camera bag that was a breeze to carry on the ground can become very, very heavy higher up. That being said, don't neglect taking extra memory or batteries - these are small and shouldn't add much weight.

2) As you increase elevation the temperature will change. For example, a pleasant, slightly warm temperature in Sevierville, TN will turn colder when you get to Newfound Gap and could become frigid when climbing to the top of Clingman's Dome. Pack extra batteries - power will drain quicker in the cold weather.
