Digital Travel Photography

It May Take Two Trips

SUMMARY: You may need two trips to take great digital photos of a particular city or area.

After you return from a trip to somewhere you've been for the very first time, when you review your digital photos, don't get too discouraged if many of them didn't come out right. It may require a second trip to a particular city or area in order to take better photos.

* When you return to a previous location, your familiarity with the area will allow you more time to take digital photos and less time trying to 'get your bearings'.

* Most people on their first trip to a particular location will spend most of their time at the standard 'touristy' spots, snapping photos of monuments or landmarks that have been shot millions of times before. On the second trip, since you've already been to those locations, you can spend time exploring other areas that might result in better photo opportunities.

* If you have already taken the standard photos on a first trip, on succeeding trips, why not ask the locals for suggestions on places to go? There may be great photo opportunities not listed in guidebooks.
