You Can Still Shoot Photos on Rainy Days

SUMMARY: If you protect your digital camera, you may still be able to take some good digital photos during periods of light rain.

Don't give up if the weather is rainy and put away your digital camera (unless the weather is dangerous, such as a lightning storm). While you must protect your camera from water (which includes using a lens hood and possibly a rain cover), if you can get underneath a covered area or awning, many interesting photo opportunities are available.

For example, water on a street or sidewalk, if the sky is not completely dark, can reflect nearby people, buildings, or lit-up signs. Either split your photo composition between the reflections on the ground and the scene above, or just capture the reflections alone for an abstract effect.
