Digital Waterfall Photography - Test the Ground Sturdiness Before Setting up a Tripod

It's easy to get caught up in the splendor of an expansive waterfall, and upon seeing one you're probably ready to quickly set up your tripod and snap away.

Not so fast! Before setting up your tripod, make sure to test the ground and ensure it is dry and sturdy. Rocks may be slippery, viewing bridges could be uneven or wet, and moss and lichens could also cause problems. Before setting up a multi-hundred (or thousand!) dollar digital camera on a tripod, ensure it will not slip or collapse, damaging not only the sharpness of your compositions but possibly equipment as well.
