Dogpile Search - Attempt to Filter Adult Material from a Particular Query's Results

SUMMARY: Attempt to filter more inappropriate content when using the Dogpile metasearch engine.

Like other search engines such as Google, MSN Search, and Yahoo! Search, the Dogpile metasearch engine has the capability of filtering out certain adult material.

As of January 22, 2005, Dogpile's search filter by default attempts to remove explicit material when performing image searches. However, search engine results are not filtered. By performing an advanced search, however, you can change this for a particular query.

Note that these instructions were current as of January 24, 2005. Dogpile's interface is subject to change.

1. From Dogpile's home page, click the "Advanced" link next to the search box.

2. The "Advanced" Web Search" page will appear. Enter your search query next to "All of these words".

3. Scroll down to "Search Filter" and click the "Filter: Heavy" radio button.

4. Click "Go Fetch!" to perform your search.

Note that performing a filtered search does not guarantee that no objectionable material will appear in your result. However, it may reduce the chances of such.
