Microsoft Excel 2010

Insert Copyright, Trademark, Other Symbols

SUMMARY: Insert symbols into your Excel 2010 worksheet such as arrows, copyright, trademark, Euro, and Pound.

Do you need to insert symbols such as a copyright symbol, trademark, or registered trademark into your Microsoft Excel 2010 worksheet?

Thanks to AutoCorrect features, inserting those symbols is easy; other symbols require just a few clicks. To enter one of the following symbols, just enter the appropriate text and Excel 2010 will replace it with the desired symbol:

(c) - Copyright Symbol
(e) - Euro Symbol
(r) - Registered Trademark Symbol
(tm) - Trademark Symbol

Other symbols can be inserted by doing the following:

1. Select the "Insert" tab in the Ribbon.

2. In the "Symbols" group, click the "Symbol" button.

3. The "Symbol" dialog box appears. You can double-click a symbol to insert it into your worksheet, or do the following for more symbols:

* Click the pull-down next to "Font" to look for symbols in other fonts.

* Scroll through the list of characters, or jump through the list by clicking the pull-down next to "Subset". For example, in the standard "(normal text)" font you may see subsets for Arrows, General Punctuation, and Number Forms, among others.

* If you know a symbol's character code, enter it in the "Character Code" box to jump directly to it.

* The "from" pull-down may offer more choices, such as switching between ASCII and Unicode.

* Some commonly-used symbols can be quickly found by clicking the "Special Characters" tab.
