Mozilla Firefox - Plugins and Extensions

Display the Number of Open Tabs in the Status Bar

SUMMARY: See how many tabs are open in all of your Mozilla Firefox windows.

When browsing the web in Mozilla Firefox, do you sometimes have dozens of tabs opened in multiple windows, so many in fact that you have forgotten how many are open?

Opening too many tabs in multiple windows may degrade system performance, so the "Open Tab Count" add-on by Hilary Mason can remind you in Firefox's status bar how many tabs are open in the current Firefox window, followed by the number of tabs opened in all Firefox windows.

1. Visit the following page from within Firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8363

2. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.

3. The "Software Installation" dialog box will eventually appear. Click "Install Now" as soon as the button is enabled.

4. Once the add-on has installed, click the "Restart Firefox" button. Depending on your configuration, Firefox may note that it will try to restart your windows and tabs.

5. Once Firefox has restarted you will see the list of open tabs in the current and all Firefox windows in the status bar, complete with a smiling tab character.
