Mozilla Firefox - Plugins and Extensions

Store Notes you Can Synchronize with your Bookmarks

SUMMARY: QuickFox Notes adds a note-taking utility inside Firefox that can be synchronized along with your Bookmarks.

Need to jot down a few notes while browsing the web in Mozilla Firefox? Perhaps there's a website or Facebook page you want to visit after doing some work (or playing online games). Maybe you need to put notes together for a cool Twitter update later. Or, just remember something you need from the store, such as a battery or two for your cordless keyboard?

The QuickFox Notes extension adds a multi-tabbed note-taking utility inside Firefox. You can create notes with various font sizes, colors, and background colors. Notes can be spell checked, imported, and exported. Plus, as notes are saved as items in Firefox's Bookmarks, if you use a synchronization utility you can easily transfer your notes across computers or devices.

Editing a note via QuickFox Notes in Firefox

1. Visit the following page from within Firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13572/

2. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.

3. The "Software Installation" dialog box will eventually appear. Click "Install Now" as soon as the button is enabled.

Installing the QuickFox Notes extension

4. Once the add-on has installed, click the "Restart Firefox" button. Depending on your configuration, Firefox may note that it will try to restart your windows and tabs.

5. Once Firefox has restarted, open the utility via the new icons in the status bar. The "W" icon opens QuickFox Notes in a new window, "T" in a new tab, and "B" in application-content inside the current Firefox window.

This tip was written for Mozilla Firefox v3.6.10 and QuickFox Notes 2.3C on a Windows XP machine. Screenshots, instructions, and features for other versions may vary.
