Is Your Bookmarks Toolbar Overflowing?
SUMMARY: Force Firefox's Bookmarks Toolbar to only display website icons, and not names, unless you hover over them with your mouse pointer.
Do you have many bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox's Bookmarks Toolbar, causing it to overflow so you cannot see any more websites? If so, one possible solution is the "Smart Bookmarks Bar" extension. This extension hides the names (labels) of websites in the Bookmarks Toolbar so you only see the icons. However, hovering over an icon shows the name of the website in case you forget.
1. Visit the following page from within Firefox:
* Smart Bookmarks Bar
2. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.
3. The "Software Installation" dialog box will eventually appear. Click "Install Now" as soon as the button is enabled.
4. Once the add-on has installed, click the "Restart Firefox" button. Depending on your configuration, Firefox may note that it will try to restart your windows and tabs.
5. Once Firefox restarts, you should see that the Bookmarks Toolbar displays only icons until you hover over them with the mouse pointer.
From the Firefox "Add-ons" dialog box ("Tools" - "Add-ons") click the "Options" button underneath "Smart Bookmarks Bar". From here you can modify options such as whether or not the bookmark names should appear on mouse hover and if bookmarks without favicons should appear.
