Mozilla Firefox - Plugins and Extensions

View Tabs in a Sidebar

SUMMARY: Instead of viewing a tab bar near the top of Mozilla Firefox, view a sidebar with previews of open tabs.

Since Mozilla Firefox's Tab Bar is not very descriptive of the webpages contained within each tab, what if you could view previews of each tab in a larger sidebar?

With Tab Sidebar, you can hide the Tab Bar and place this more powerful previewing Sidebar on any side of the browser window. Hovering over a sidebar item displays a popup with a larger preview.

Note that most extensions are from third party developers. Installation and use of extensions are solely at your own risk.

1. Visit the following website from within Firefox:

* Tab Sidebar

2. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.

3. The "Software Installation" dialog box will eventually appear. Click "Install Now" as soon as the button is enabled.

Installing the Tab Sidebar Add-On

4. Once the add-on has installed, click the "Restart Firefox" button. Depending on your configuration, Firefox may note that it will try to restart your windows and tabs.

Once Firefox has restarted, open the Tab Sidebar by selecting "View" - "Sidebar" - "Tab Sidebar" or pressing Ctrl + Shift + E. Click on the navigation arrows to scroll amongst open tabs.Click on a snapshot to switch to the selected tab.
