Mozilla Firefox - Misc - Stop Resizing Images

SUMMARY: Show all images in their full resolution when browsing the web with Mozilla Firefox.

Normally, if you view an extremely large image file in Mozilla Firefox, the image will be resized to better fit the browser window. Firefox's window will also notify you of this, listing the scaling factor.

When you hover over the image, your cursor turns into a magnifying glass. Click the image and it will resize to its full resolution. Click the picture again and the image will resize back to a smaller version.

Example of a scaled image viewed in Firefox 3

If you'd rather see the full non-scaled image, do the following:

1. In the address bar, type about:config and press the Enter key.

2. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" when prompted this may "void your warranty".

3. Next to "Filter", start typing in browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing. You will not need to type in the entire preference name.

4. When the desired preference name appears, double-click the name to change the value to "false".
