| Clear the Download Manager History SUMMARY: For privacy reasons, tweak Mozilla Firefox so it stops recording the list of files you download. As you download files in Mozilla Firefox, the Download Manager (accessible via "Tools" - "Downloads") keeps a record of transferred files. This way, you can easily find and open files you recently downloaded from websites, especially useful if you download files to multiple folders.
For privacy reasons, especially if you share your computer with others, you may not want to keep a record of these files. Thus, you can clear the Download Manager history file by performing the following tasks:
1. Click "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" dialog box appears, select "Privacy".
3. Click the "Download History" tab.
4. Click "Clear Download History Now" to temporarily remove the list.
5. If you wish, click the pull-down next to "Remove files from the Download Manager" to change how long Firefox will keep a record of newly downloaded files. You can have Firefox clear the history:
* Manually (you must clear each item manually or click the "Clear" button mentioned above).
* Upon successful download (the history will clear every time a file is transferred).
* When Firefox exits.
6. When done, click "OK" to close the dialog box.
