Mozilla Firefox - Misc

Display Text in the Toolbars for New Users

SUMMARY: Make Mozilla Firefox even easier to use for newbies by labeling toolbar icons.

Normally, when using Mozilla Firefox, the toolbars display non-labeled icons to frequently accessed features. As examples, the red X stops a page from loading and the house button accesses your home page.

While these icons are recognizable to frequent browser users, others may have difficulty remembering the functions each icon performs. If you are setting up a machine for a new user, consider adding text descriptions of each icon so they can more easily learn how to use Mozilla Firefox. Or, you can completely remove the icons and only display text buttons such as "Back", "Forward", "Reload", etc.

1. Click "View" - "Toolbars" - "Customize"

2. When the "Customize Toolbar" dialog box appears, click the pull-down next to "Show". Here, you can choose to show:

* Icons and Text
* Icons
* Text

As you make your selection, the toolbars will change, reflecting your settings.

3. When finished, click the "Done" button to close the dialog box.
