Mozilla Firefox

Extensions and New Versions

SUMMARY: Will your extensions work when upgrading to newer versions of Firefox?

When upgrading to newer versions of Mozilla Firefox, note that some of your extensions, such as browser toolbars, may not immediately work in the new version. This can be because:

* The extension requires certain features in specific versions of Mozilla Firefox.

* In order to prevent problems, the extension checks the version of the browser and ensures it is one that the author could test with when the extension was written.

* Bug fixes in later versions of Mozilla Firefox may alter browser behavior, rendering older extensions inoperable.

If this occurs, don't fret. Most of the popular extensions are well-maintained, meaning that if a newer version isn't immediately available, it should be within a few days.

To check if new versions of extensions are available that support the latest version of Firefox:

1. Select "Tools" - "Extensions".
2. The "Extensions" dialog box should appear. Click "Find Updates".
