| Change How Firefox Opens Sites From Other Applications SUMMARY: When external applications open websites with Firefox, have them do so in new windows, tabs, or replacing the currently-viewed website. Many applications now contain links that access your web browser to open websites. Examples include:
* Company websites in "About" or "Help" dialog boxes * Website addresses inside Adobe Reader PDF or Microsoft Word DOC files * Website addresses inside e-mail in Outlook or Outlook Express
If Mozilla Firefox is setup as your default browser, you can change its behavior when opening a website from another application. Firefox can either open websites in a new browser window, open websites as new tabs inside the same browser window, or replace the current tab/browser window (if any) with the desired site.
To change the default behavior:
1. From Mozilla Firefox click "Tools" - "Options".
2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click "Tabs".
3. Select one of the following radio buttons underneath "Open links from other applications in":
* a new window
* a new tab in the most recent window
* the most recent tab/window
4. After making your decision, click "OK" to close the dialog box.
