| Where Can I Get a Free Windows Firewall? SUMMARY: Several locations you can download free firewall software for Windows.
Windows users: you're convinced that you need a firewall, yet you want a Windows firewall for free. Where can you download one?
Note that the following list is for informational purposes only.
* Zone Labs develops ZoneAlarm, a firewall that is freeware for personal use. You will have to carefully navigate the site to download the free version unless you choose to purchase the commercial (and more powerful) ZoneAlarm Security Suite or ZoneAlarm Pro. As of October 29, 2008, this is still being supported.
* Sunbelt Software now owns the Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall. This is free to try; after 30 days, the program automatically 'degrades' to a less-powerful firewall unless you choose to pay the registration fee.
* Agnitum has a freeware version of their firewall software, Outpost Firewall Free. However, as of January 15, 2006, the website lists a release date of 2002.
Note that Sygate used to make a free personal firewall but it has been discontinued by the new parent company, Symantec.
