View a Popup Contact List When Composing Email

SUMMARY: Gmail offers a contact list when composing e-mail so you can visually pick and choose recipients.

When composing e-mail in Google Gmail, you have the option of displaying a contact list so you can pick and choose who to send e-mail to, instead of typing in addresses manually and relying on auto-complete features.

1. Compose an e-mail message and click the "To" link. You can also click the "Add Cc" or "Add Bcc" links to add carbon-copy or blind carbon-copy recipients, and then click either the "Cc" or "Bcc" links that appear.

2. A "Choose from contacts" window appears. Click on contact names to toggle placing checkmarks by them, adding them to the list below. Or, instead of scrolling through your contact list, click in the "Search my contacts" box and enter part of a contact name to find it.

You can also click the pull-down underneath the search box to select contacts from contact groups if you have configured them, such as "Friends", "Family", or "Coworkers".

3. When finished, click the "Done" button. You can then complete composing your e-mail.
