| Change Text Color When Composing E-Mail SUMMARY: Colorize your e-mail when composing messages from Gmail.
 | | | | This tip was written on August 15, 2006. Gmail's interface is subject to change. | | | | |
When composing e-mail from your Gmail account, you have the option of making certain text stand out with a different color. Perhaps you're feeling blue and want to express your mood?
 | | | | Not everyone will see your text colors. Some users purposely decide to disable all text formatting features when they read their e-mail. | | | | |
1. Click "Compose Mail" to compose your e-mail message.
2. Underneath where you should enter your message subject if the link "Rich formatting" appears, click it to show the rich text formatting options.
3. To color text, highlight the text with your mouse and click the button labeled with a T and a color palette (the words "Text color" should appear as popup text). Then choose your desired color.
4. You can also color the background underneath selected text to highlight a particular word, phrase, sentence, paragraph, or the entire message. Highlight the text with your mouse and click the button labeled with a T in yellow (the words "Highlight Color" should appear as popup text). Then choose your desired highlight color.
If you don't want to just highlight a portion of text to add colors or highlights, just click one of the buttons and make your color selection. From this point on, everything you type in the e-mail message will appear with the selected text color or highlight color.
