Google Gmail - Disable Web Clips Above the Inbox and E-Mail Messages

By default, Google's Gmail service displays what it calls "Web Clips" above your Inbox and e-mail messages. These can contain advertisements, tips for using Gmail, or news and information content. If you'd rather turn these off, do the following:

This tip was written on March 21, 2007. Gmail's interface is subject to change.

1. Click the "Settings" link near the top-right of the page.

2. A "Settings" page will appear. Click the "Web Clips" link/tab.

3. The "Web Clips" tab will appear. Uncheck "Show my web clips above the Inbox".

Note that while this seems to remove ads from above your Inbox and e-mail messages, it will not completely remove advertisements from the Gmail service.
