Stop Notifying When Pop-up Windows Are Blocked

SUMMARY: Prevent Google Chrome from announcing when it finds and blocks a pop-up window in a webpage.

While pop-up windows do have legitimate uses in navigating certain websites, they are often used for advertisements. Google Chrome, by default, blocks them. When pop-up windows are blocked, Google notifies you with a "Blocked Pop-up" alert at the bottom-right of the browser window.

If you frequently visit websites where pop-up windows are blocked, you may grow tired of this notification. If so, it can be disabled:

1. Click on the Tools button.

2. Select "Options".

3. When the "Google Chrome Options" dialog box appears, click the "Under the Hood" tab.

4. Underneath "Web Content", uncheck "Notify me when a pop-up is blocked".

5. Click "Close" on the "Google Chrome Options" dialog box to close it.

This tip is for a BETA version of Google Chrome. Information and screenshots are subject to change.

At CanadaFreePress.com chrome reports that it has blocked a pop-up but the pop-up occurs anyway usually accompanied with annoying audio. Reported this to Google.
Would someone like to try that site to see if you get the same.
