SUMMARY: Google City Tours displays sample travel itineraries for major cities.
Planning on traveling to a large city and looking for places to see and things to do? One option is to use a new tool from Google Labs, Google City Tours.
Enter a starting address such as a city name, or type the address of your hotel. Google will respond with a sample itinerary with possible locations to visit such as museums, libraries, and zoos. All places are marked on a map, and Google City Tours also lists the times it takes to reach each destination. Itineraries can be customized - you can add or remove sights and change travel dates.

This tip was written on June 25, 2009. As this is a Google Labs project, screenshots, instructions, and information are subject to change. Also note that this project focuses on walking to reach each destination. While this is environmentally-friendly, in some cities this may not be feasible or public-transportation options may provide a better option. Use these itineraries as rough guides and not strict travel plans.
