Directions for You to Ride Your Bike
SUMMARY: Google Maps now provides directions optimized for bike riders.
Are you interested in or able to ride your bike to work, for running a few errands, or for exercise, and need to know the best route to get from point A to point B? Google Maps has added bike routes to its "Directions" service, helping you avoid roads that aren't suitable or safe for cycling.
1. From the Google Maps page, click the "Directions" link.
2. Enter your source and destination addresses in boxes "A" and "B".
3. Click the pull-down underneath the boxes and choose "Bicycling".
4. Click the "Get Directions" button.
5. You should now see a visual route and directions between the two points, optimized for bicycle riding.
At the time this tip was written, this feature was still in beta. Thus, Google is requesting help if you happen to see a route that would be impossible, dangerous, etc. To provide feedback, click the "Use caution and please report unmapped bike routes, streets that aren't suited for cycling, and other problems here" link, then fill out the form that next appears.
Return to the Google Maps page.
