SUMMARY: Google has added an Alpha version of Persian (Farsi) support to Google Translate.
As noted in The Official Google Blog, seemingly in response to recent events in Iran, Google has updated their Google Translate tool to support the translation of text and webpages from Persian (Farsi) into other languages.
While this currently is not available on Google's "Language Tools" page (hyperlink is for English version), it is available via their "Google Translate" page at http://translate.google.com/. To perform a translation:
1. After visiting http://translate.google.com/, underneath "Enter text or a webpage URL", enter text or an URL to translate. As an example, enter Google's Persian homepage:
http://www.google.com/intl/fa/
2. Below you should see two pull-downs. Click the pull-down on the left to select the source language: Persian ALPHA
3. Click the pull-down on the right to select your destination language.
4. Click the "Translate" button to translate the text or webpage.
