Google Earth - View the World with Google Earth

SUMMARY: Use the Google Earth tool to virtually fly around the world, viewing satellite imagery.

Google Earth lets you virtually "fly" around the planet by viewing satellite imagery. You can zoom in on your home town, search for local businesses, display driving directions, and more. Unlike the online Google Maps tool, Google Earth is a downloadable application that runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Macintosh OS X 10.3.9 and above, and Linux machines.

To download and install Google Earth, visit http://earth.google.com/. Before you download Google Earth, however, you may wish to view the FAQ as certain graphics cards are incompatible with the software. For example, if your computer uses the ATI Rage Mobility, ATI Xpert, or ATI 3D Rage graphics cards, you may not be able to run Google Earth.

After accessing the Google Earth page, click the "Get Google Earth" link to download the software. Note that at the time this tip was written there may be options to download one of two versions of this software. The current tips on MalekTips are for Google Earth version 4 which was a beta when these tips were written.
