| Download Updates to HijackThis SUMMARY: Keep HijackThis up-to-date to better fight against malware.
It is important to keep HijackThis updated. New releases of the software may contain information about more types of malware, added system tools to protect you against malware, updated documentation, bug fixes, and/or other useful features.
To update HijackThis:
1. Start the software. If the "New users quickstart" screen appears, click "None of the above, just start the program".
2. Click the "Config" button.
3. When the "Configuration" screen appears, click the "Misc Tools" button.
4. Scroll down to "Update check".
5. If you are behind a proxy server, enter the server's host and port next to "Use this proxy server (host:port)." Ask your network administrator for details if you need help.
6. Click "Check for Update online". Follow the on-screen prompts, if needed, to acquire the update.
