Don't Crosspost too Much on Newsgroups

It can be tempting, with so many newsgroups available, to ask a single question to people on every newsgroup or on a wide variety of newsgroups. My advice - don't do it. Not only is it bad ethics, your message will be deleted by cancelbots (robots that exist solely to remove off-topic and crossposted messages). You may also receive a lot of hate mail and spam (unsolicited or unwarranted e-mail) for doing so. Keep crossposts to less than 5, or tailor your messages to each individual group (as long as they are on topic).
