SUMMARY: Stop playing sounds and displaying an Information Bar whenever pop-up windows are trapped by Internet Explorer.
Depending on your configuration, when Internet Explorer 7 prevents a pop-up window from appearing, it plays a sound and displays an information bar at the top of the browser window.
While some appreciate these notifications as they are browsing the web, others find them annoying and would rather Internet Explorer 7 block pop-up windows silently.
1.
Click on the "Tools" button in the toolbar.
2. Select "Pop-up Blocker, then Pop-up Blocker Settings".
3. The "Pop-up Blocker Settings" dialog box will appear. Underneath "Notifications and filter level", uncheck "Play a sound when a pop-up is blocked" and/or "Show Information Bar when a pop-up is blocked" as desired.
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Internet Explorer 7 Misc - Stop Pop-up Blocker Notifications
