Internet Explorer 7 Misc - Prevent Storing User Names and Passwords

SUMMARY: Prevent Internet Explorer 7 from storing user names and passwords entered into webpages, and delete passwords already stored.

Internet Explorer 7, depending on how it is configured, may automatically store user names and passwords you enter in web pages, or it may prompt to do so. This way you don't have to remember such information if you frequently revisit the same sites.

Unfortunately, this storage of usernames and passwords is a potential privacy and security risk. Thus, if you are comfortable remembering your passwords, you may wish to disable this feature.

1. Click on the "Tools" button in the toolbar, selecting "Internet Options".

2. When the "Internet Properties" dialog box appears, click the "Content" tab.

3. Next to "AutoComplete", click the "Settings" button.

Now you may want to clear previously-stored usernames and passwords.

1. Click the "Tools" button, selecting "Delete Browsing History".

2. The "Delete Browsing History" dialog box appears. Click "Delete passwords".
