Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
Print Background Colors and Images
SUMMARY: Configure Internet Explorer 8 to print more-realistic copies of webpages by printing background colors and images.
Just as in earlier versions, Internet Explorer 8 by default does not print webpage background colors and images. While this reduces the ink/toner needed to print pages as well as the print time, webpage printouts may not look similar to how they appear online. However, you can toggle this setting even if it increases the print time and cost per page:
1. Access the Internet Options dialog box. If the menu bar is visible, you can select "Tools" - "Internet Options". If the Command Bar is visible, click the "Tools" button and select "Internet Options". If neither are available, try typing Alt + T then O.
2. When the "Internet Options" dialog box appears, click the "Advanced" tab.
3. Underneath "Settings", scroll down until you see "Printing". Underneath, check or uncheck "Print background colors and images" as desired.
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box and store your settings.
Return to the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 page.
