Internet Explorer 6 Miscellaneous - Troubleshoot Internet Explorer Running Slowly

SUMMARY: Spyware, viruses, and fragmented hard drives can cause Internet Explorer 6 to run slowly.

Is Internet Explorer 6 all of a sudden running much more slowly than normal? Here are a few things you should try:

1. Clear your website cache. If it is too big, Internet Explorer 6 may slow down.

2. Scan your computer for viruses with your virus scanner. If you don't have one, consider the free AntiVir product.

3. Defrag your hard drive. Double-click "My Computer" on your desktop. Right-click your hard drive in Windows Explorer, choose "Properties", select "Tools", click "Defragment Now", and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. You may have spyware or adware. Visit the MalekTips removing spyware and adware page for more information on ridding yourself of these pests.
