Disable History Modification SUMMARY: Prevent users from modifying their Internet Explorer 6 history settings.
There may be times where you need to disable the ability for a user on your machine to modify their history settings. The following registry edit will do just that for the current user, graying out their history settings. Note that as this is a registry edit, standard disclaimers apply.
1. Open REGEDIT. 2. Navigate to section: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\ Control Panel. 3. Create a new DWORD value. 4. Name it "History". Give it a value of "1". 5. Close REGEDIT.
Close and re-open Internet Explorer. If you access the "Internet Options", you'll note that the "History" section is grayed out.
