SUMMARY: Can you not enable or disable the Menu Bar or Links toolbar options in Internet Explore 7? Are they grayed out? This registry edit should fix the problem.
In Internet Explorer 7, you can normally easily toggle displaying the links toolbar or toggle displaying the menu toolbar.
However, in some circumstances as demonstrated by the image on the right, these toolbar options may be disabled.
To re-enable toggling these features on and off, you must be logged on your machine as an Administrator and perform the following registry edit.
1. Open "regedit.exe" from the "Start" button (or "Start" - "Run" for Windows XP users).
2. Navigate to the following key: My Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
3. You should see a key "NoBandCustomize" with a value of 1. Either delete the key or change its value to 0.
4. Restart Internet Explorer 7. The "Menu Bar" and "Links" options should now be available.
Or, the following link is to a file that will modify your Windows Registry. Right-click the desired file and save it to disk, then double-click the file and confirm importing the registry settings when prompted. After the registry settings are imported, you will need to restart Internet Explorer 7 .
* Enable toggling Internet Explorer 7's links and menu toolbars.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Internet Explorer 7 Toolbar - Menu Bar - Status Bar - Menu Bar and Links Toolbar Options Grayed Out
