SUMMARY: Find local area businesses with Google without resorting to your phone book.
Instead of checking the Yellow Pages for local restaurants, banks, hair salons, computer stores, or whatever, you can use a localized Google search to find relevant store locations. Google Local looks through a collection of selected localized websites. To use Google Local:
(Note that this tip was written on 9/16/04 - Google's interface is subject to change.)
1. Visit http://local.google.com/
2. Enter in your search terms, such as "pizza".
3. Enter your street address, city, or just your zip code.
4. Click "Save location" if you want Google to remember your location when you next access Google Local.
5. Press "Google Search".
Once at the results page, you can view links to matching websites, show listings from different business categories, display maps and directions to store locations, and more.
