SUMMARY: Search for Word and Adobe documents with ease using Google.
If you need to search for non-HTML documents, such as Microsoft Word (.DOC) or Adobe PDF documents, you can do so with a basic Google search, but Google will intermix these types of documents with standard web pages. If you know your result must be a certain document type, however, you can force Google to only look through non-HTML documents. Just add the following extension to your search query:
filetype:FILETYPE
For example, to search for "car insurance" using Google, but only return Adobe PDF documents, your query would be:
"car insurance" filetype:pdf
To search for "wedding checklist" but only return Microsoft Word documents (.DOC), your query would be:
"wedding checklist" filetype:doc
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Google Search Engine - Search for Only Word or PDF Documents
