SUMMARY: Save time browsing Google results by opening websites in a new window, keeping the search results visible.
As mentioned in a previous MalekTip, if you open Google results in a new browser window, you can more easily return to your search results without having to use the "Back" button or re-enter your search query. However, this requires you remembering to open results in a new window each time you view a Google result. If you wish, you can have Google automatically perform this task for you. To do so:
(Note this tip was written on 10/7/2004, and Google's interface is subject to change).
1. Visit http://www.google.com/
2. Click "Preferences".
3. When the "Preferences" page appears, scroll to the bottom and check "Open search results in a new browser window".
4. Click "Save Preferences".
5. Click "OK" on the dialog box that appears.
Now, search Google as you would normally. Whenever you open a search engine result, it will automatically appear in a new browser window!
Note that if you disable browser cookies, your settings will not be remembered the next time you visit Google. Also, if you are running a browser that disables pop-up windows, this may not work for you. Instead, right-click (or OPTION-click) on links and choose "Open in new window".
