SUMMARY: Quickly create grayscale images and photos with IrfanView.
Grayscale photos often look more dramatic and artistic than color photos, especially when the contrast between light and dark tones is high. Luckily, it's easy to convert photos and images to grayscale with IrfanView.
1. First, load an image into IrfanView.
2. Select "Image" - "Convert to Grayscale".
3. You can discard the changes by closing IrfanView. Or, save a new copy of the grayscale image, keeping the original, by choosing "File" - "Save As" (or press "S"). You can then choose the new image filename, type of image file to save (such as BMP, GIF, JPG, and TIF) and where to save the file.
