IrfanView - Set an Image as the Windows Wallpaper

SUMMARY: Take a browsed image in IrfanView 3 and instantly make it the Windows wallpaper.

While viewing images and photos with IrfanView you may find a graphic that would look great as the Windows wallpaper. Luckily, IrfanView makes this process easy to perform.

1. First, load an image into IrfanView.

2. Select "Options" - "Set as Wallpaper".

3. Choose "Centered" to center the graphic onscreen (or press CTRL+SHIFT+C), "Tiled" to make the graphic repeat to fill the desktop (or press CTRL+SHIFT+T), or "Stretched" to stretch the current graphic so it fills up the entire wallpaper (or press CTRL+SHIFT+S).

Note there is also a "Previous Wallpaper" option (or press CTRL+SHIFT+P) that lets you revert to the previously chosen wallpaper image in case you don't like your current settings.

If this doesn't work, wallpaper changing may be disabled on your machine. Here are instructions for enabling the changing of wallpaper on Windows XP systems.

This tip was written for an older version of Irfanview, and instructions for the latest version may differ.
