IrfanView 3 - Make Images Look Like Oil Paintings

SUMMARY: Add an artistic oil painting effect to your images and photos from IrfanView.

Without having to buy expensive image manipulation software, would you like to apply an artistic filter on your images or photos, making them look like oil paintings? You can do this with IrfanView.

1. First, load an image into IrfanView.

2. Select "Image" - "Effects" - "Oil Paint".

If you don't like the results, try "Edit" - "Undo". If you want the picture to look splotchier, try the following.

* Select "Image" - "Effects" - "Effects Browser".
* Select "Oil Paint".
* Change the value from 3 (less splotchy) to 9.

Note that you should NOT try value 9 except for smaller images as this can take a while to perform, even on fast systems!

3. Press "OK".

4. When you are done manipulating the image / photo, you may want to save a copy of the oil painted version.

Choose "File" - "Save As" (or press "S") to create a new copy of the modified image / photo. You can then choose the new image filename, type of image file to save (such as BMP, GIF, JPG, and TIF) and where to save the file on your computer, network, or removable media.
