Toggle Viewing Hidden Files and Folders

SUMMARY: Have IrfanView display files and folders not normally visible.


 

Depending on your IrfanView configuration, when navigating through folders to view a multimedia file (especially if you choose to view all files regardless of extension), hidden files and folders may appear. These files can include the infamous "Thumbs.db" file, which contains view information about a given folder. More than likely you will never load this file into IrfanView. Thus, you can toggle the display of this and other hidden files and folders:

1. From IrfanView, choose "Options" - "Properties".

2. When the "Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Misc. 1" tab.

3. Check or uncheck "Show hidden files/folders during moving through directory" as desired.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

This tip was written for an older version of Irfanview, and instructions for the latest version may differ.
