IrfanView 3 - Disable Undo When Modifying Large Images

SUMMARY: Is IrfanView sluggish, especially when manipulating large digital photographs? Throw caution to the wind and disable undo functionality, decreasing memory usage.

If you are having trouble modifying digital photos with IrfanView in that doing so slows down your computer or thrashes your hard drive continuously, you may be running out of memory. One way to reduce IrfanView's memory usage is to temporarily eliminate the "Undo" function. While this prevents you from fixing mistakes (save your work often and back up your original photos!), it also causes IrfanView to use less memory.

1. From IrfanView, choose "Options" - "Properties".

2. When the "Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Misc. 1" tab.

3. Uncheck "Use Undo option (need some memory for the original image)".

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
