SUMMARY: Use the Keyboardr website to search Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia with your keyboard as you type.
Google Labs has an experiment called Keyboard Shortcuts where you can perform searches, then navigate the results using your keyboard. However, there are a few cons - you must use letters to move up and down through the results. Plus, you have to press the / key to go back to the search box, and the Esc key to leave the search box to navigate through the results.
As an alternative keyboard interface you may wish to try Keyboardr from Julius Eckert. With this tool you receive search results as you type them - type in "Miami Dolphins" and you may receive results about the city before you even press the "D" in Dolphins. Plus, you can navigate through results by using your up and down arrow keys, selecting a site to view by pressing Enter. And there are no keys to remember to return to the search box - just move your cursor back to it to search again, or just start typing.
Searching the web via Keyboardr
Besides Google, you may also see results from Google Blogs, Google Images, Wikipedia, and Youtube. Again you can use the cursor keys to navigate; use the right and left arrow keys to switch columns.
Though an interesting way to search, you are limited in the number of results from each source. If you need more you can click on an "All Results" link, but this will take you away from this keyboard interface. However, for those that don't need to perform extensive research through dozens of results, this may prove to be a more-convenient way to search the web.

An unstable version can be found at the following address that may offer different features. As of July 21, 2009, you can click a "More Google Results" link to navigate through more results without leaving this keyboard interface:
