6-29-2005: Windows 2000 SP4 Update Rollup 1
 
Microsoft has released the Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. This includes all Windows 2000 security updates released between SP4 and April 30, 2005, providing one package you can download to obtain several updates. Available for download, it will eventually be distributed via Automatic Update.

6-29-2005: New Google Features
 
A couple new Google features of note:
 
Google Personalized Search allows Google to keep a record of your previous searches so it can better fine-tune your search results. If you decide to use this feature, be sure to read the Privacy FAQ.
 
The downloadable Google Earth lets you view satellite imagery from across the globe. Terrain and buildings (in selected cities) are represented in 3D, maps can be tilted and rotated, a video playback of driving directions is available, and much more. Freeware, "Plus", and "Pro" versions are available with added features.

6-29-2005: Yahoo! to Update Mail Service
 
According to wire reports, Yahoo! is planning updates to its Yahoo! Mail service. Proposed updates include an e-mail preview pane, drag-and-drop support for filing messages, enhanced search features, and more.

6-27-2005: RealPlayer / Rhapsody Vulnerabilities
 
Security firm Secunia is reporting multiple vulnerabilities with various Real products including RealPlayer and Rhapsody. These vulnerabilities, left unpatched, could result in arbitrary code execution and other problems. Be sure to update your products accordingly.

6-21-2005: Dialog Origin Spoofing Vulnerability
 
Security firm Secunia is reporting on a dialog box spoofing vulnerability found in most major browsers, including Internet Explorer, Opera, and Mozilla Firefox. The vulnerability works by having a JavaScript dialog box open on top of a trusted site, yet the dialog box can come from an untrusted site. Thus, it is possible for malicious sites to steal user information. The only current workaround is to not view trusted sites the same time you view untrusted ones.

6-21-2005: Web Cam Use Among Adults
 
According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 16% of adult American Internet users have reported viewing web cams of people or places on the Internet. Note this includes videoconferences and other office-related webcam uses. A full report and gender breakdown is available online as a PDF document.
