10-7-2004: ASP.Net Security Flaw
According to Netcraft, Microsoft's ASP.NET web application framework contains a security flaw allowing people to enter password-protected websites just by entering a specially-crafted URL. There is no fix yet available, but the website links to guidelines for ASP.NET authors to work around this vulnerability.

10-7-2004: Microsoft Word Vulnerability
Security firm Secunia is reporting a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability with Microsoft Word 2000 and 2002. Malicious documents can be created that, when read, cause a buffer overflow. The current advisory states that besides the DoS attack, arbitrary code execution "may potentially also be possible, though it has not been proven."

10-6-2004: Google Does Books
Now, when you search for selected book titles using Google, you can read book excerpts, perform limited searches inside a book, or purchase a book through a variety of online retailers. For more information, visit Google Print, currently in beta.

10-5-2004: Mac OS X Security Updates
Security firm Secunia is reporting several Mac OS X Security Vulnerabilities fixed by a recent patch. These vulnerabilities can allow password disclosure, system compromise, denial of service (DoS), and more. Updates are available for Mac OS X v10.3.5, Mac OS X Server v10.3.5, Mac OS X v10.2.8, and Mac OS X Server v10.2.8.

10-4-2004: Firefox Security Update
A security update to Firefox was released. The vulnerability involved downloading files, where a malicious website could trick the user into downloading a file that would actually remove files from the user's download directory. An update can be obtained on the Mozilla web site.
