MalekTips: 10-15-2003
Welcome to the newest version of the MalekTips newsletter, offering you help and tips to get the most out of your computer.
* The latest version of the Adobe Reader software has some interesting features. Tired of manually scrolling through a document? You can have Adobe Reader do this for you. Or, save your tired eyes from staring at a computer screen and let Adobe Reader speak the document text aloud.
* Modify your computer settings like you never thought possible, or repair computer problems that seemed hopeless to fix. Download the Tweak UI PowerToy for Windows 2000 or Windows XP to speed up your Start menu, repair broken icons, increase privacy, show higher-quality image thumbnails, and more.
* The latest version of the Windows Media Player is great for playing a wide variety of multimedia, but you may want to fix some of its aggravating 'features'. Not everyone likes the menu bar disappearing all the time, and you may want to use other media players for certain types of files. Plus, you should consider gaining some privacy by disabling certain information about your machine from being reported.
* Sometimes the difference between taking digital camera photographs that look like they came from a professional and those that, well to put it politely, don't, is knowing a few simple hints on using the camera. Understand why zooming in on your subjects requires a steady hand to prevent blurring. Try out your preset modes for better quality output in tough lighting conditions. And, lower your image compression settings for sharper, clearer photographs.
These new tips and more, 31 in total, can be found below in the latest version of MalekTips. Enjoy! And remember - if you have a computer question, be sure to check out the MalekTips forums at http://www.malektips.com/forums
