12-28-2004: Be Careful Where You Donate
 
Due to the massive tsunamis that have recently devastated southern Asia, many people are turning to the Internet to make donations to help those in need. If you decide to help, please be sure to make donations on legitimate websites run by well-known organizations. Unfortunately, unscrupulous individuals may use this as an opportunity to create bogus websites set up for phishing attacks.
 
Two websites you may wish to consider donating to are UNICEF and the Red Cross.

12-27-2004: Google's Most Popular Search Query
 
Search engine Google has provided their 2004 Year-End Google Zeitgeist, providing lists of the top queries made using the search engine in 2004. Not surprisingly, the top query is "britney spears", the most popular tech query is "wallpaper", the top TV show query is "the simpsons", and "ebay" edged out all the rest as the top searched-for consumer brand name.

12-22-2004: Adobe Reader 7 Available
 
Adobe has quietly released version 7 of their Adobe Reader product to view PDF files. According to the site, new features include enhanced performance, an improved search feature, and the ability to fill out and submit forms. Downloads are available for Windows, Mac OS, Palm OS, Pockjet PC, and UNIX.
